The illustrator and filmmaker Juanba Berasategi has been awarded the Antón Abadia prize 2006, which Gipuzkoa Provincial Council has given him for his work encouraging the use of Basque. In his films Basque has played an important role.
In his long career, animated films such as Kukubiltxo (1983), Kalabaza tripontzia (1985) or more recent works like Ahmed Alhambrako printzea (1998) and Alhambrako giltza (2003), as well as TV series such as Fernando Amezketarra (1994) or Lazkao Txiki (1998) stand out.
Juanba Berasategi will receive the Antón Abbadia prize at a ceremony that will take place on the 1st of December at the Chillida-Leku Museum at 6:30 pm.
