"I`m still learning. Lateworks from Titiano to Tàpies" Esteban Vicente Modern Art Museum. Segovia. · outside

The Esteban Vicente Modern Art Museum is bringing together a group of extraordinary painters from all periods, especially contemporary ones; many of whom are Spanish. What they have in common is that they are all late works by people who reached old age in a chronological but not artistic sense.

The Chillida-Leku Museum is collaborating in this exhibition with an ink drawing on paper, 21, 1 x 28 cm., called “Two hands”. This piece forms part of the series of gravitations that he began to produce from 1985 onwards, and in these he managed to avoid piling up flat surfaces which is what collages involve.
This piece mentions another of the common themes in Chillida’s work, which is the hand. From 1945 to 2000 he produced more than 300 drawings of hands, which stand out because of the figuration of their shapes as opposed to his abstract sculptures. With these drawings he tried to reflect the concept of void and space.
