The Lenbur Foundation, that was set up in Legazpi ten years ago to recover the industrial heritage of the Basque Country, has celebrated its tenth anniversary at the Chillida-Leku Museum. Its president, Luis Chillida, and the director of the foundation, Aurelio González attended the event.
At the event they paid tribute to the old ironworkers who worked for years at the foundry. Patricio Echeverria, the son of the founder of the company in Legazpi, also received acknowledgement and was named honorary president.
Among those attending the event it is worth mentioning the Lehendakari, Juan José Ibarretxe, the head of the Provincial Council, Markel Olano; the industry minister, Ana Aguirre, the councillor for culture, María Jesús Aramburu, the mayor of Legazpi, Sote Plazaola, the mayor of Hernani, Marian Betialarrangoitia and Xabier Iturbe, the chairman of Kutxa, among others. The 10 patrons of the Lenbur Foundation also attended the function.
The event took place at 19:00 in the Zabalaga farmhouse against a background of txalaparta rhythms. Once it was over some young people dressed up as ironworkers accompanied the guests to the private area where they enjoyed a cocktail served by BOKADO.
